Hi, I’m Shannon Guadalupe, co-founder of Isla Coffee Company — proud Army veteran and proud Isleña by heart.
My story with coffee changed forever the first time I stepped foot in Puerto Rico.
Before that, coffee was just… coffee. A morning habit. Maybe something with flavored creamer from a drive-thru. But on the island? It’s something deeper. Coffee is culture. It’s family. It’s a slow morning at the panadería with a fresh pastry before heading to the beach, or sipping a strong cup before a day of exploring the island. Every cup told a story — and I didn’t want it to end.
It Started with a Generous Cup
Each time my husband Manny (who’s proudly Puerto Rican and also Isla’s co-founder) would return from visiting the island, he brought back bags and bags of coffee. But not for himself.
I watched him give them away — to friends, coworkers, neighbors — each time beaming with pride as he handed over a taste of home. That passion, that pride… it sparked something in me. If people knew how good this coffee was — how meaningful it could be — they’d never go back to ordinary blends again.
Why Isla Coffee Is So Special
At Isla Coffee, there aren’t a lot of steps between the farm and your cup. Our beans are grown in the mountains of Adjuntas, PR, handpicked with care, and bagged by the same family that runs the farm.
No corporate middlemen. No mass production shortcuts. Just truly great coffee — rich in culture, rooted in pride — delivered straight to you.
A Peek Inside My Morning
As a fellow Army veteran, my days used to start fast and early. Now, I love slowing things down with a greka pot. There’s just something magical about peeking in and watching it come to life — the deep colors, the rising steam — it’s beautiful. It makes each cup feel special.
A Message From Me to You
If you’re new to Isla Coffee, welcome. We’re so glad you’re here.
Once you become an Isleño, you won’t look back.
— Shannon
